Custom Invitations by little bit creations

It's been awhile since we talked about invitations, so I thought it was time we revisited that topic. After all, it is one of the main reasons I started blogging in the first place. Although my etsy shop is no longer running I still do invitations by request. I absolutely love doing them, but I could not keep up with the demand of my shop once baby #2 arrived. Here are some samples of my work, but the options are endless and my most favorite jobs are custom and unique to your event!
I also offer calligraphy services:)
Please email me for a quote or for more information!

Year end recap - 2014

Wren and Willow's Birthday//We had a woodland themed Goldilock's and Little Red Riding Hood  birthday party complete with mushroom cupcakes! Now we are brainstorming 2015 ideas and i think i am seeing ponies!

New House//We bought a house in the fall and could not be happier. Of course this means lots of projects to do but I couldn't be happier!

Family Room//This is a room that I went from barely spending in time in, to spending almost all of my time in. I cannot believe how far this room has come. I can't wait to do and share more projects in this space!

Rumage Wedding//I had the privilege and honor of not only creating custom invitations for this wedding, but planning the entire thing and oh what fun I had!

Triangle Wall and Mint Vanity//This is one of my favorite areas in the house. The triangle wall is on our staircase wall which spans our Kitchen and Dining Room. Under that same staircase is our Powder Bath which houses this beautiful mint vanity with Chartreuse pulls. I never created a blog post on this area - sorry.

Library & Living Room//This is one of my very favorite spaces in the house for many reasons, but especially for the black and white striped wall. I cannot wait to have that couch reupholstered!

Merry Christmas!

Coordinating your lighting

nothings worse than "builder" spec lighting - well actually there are a lot of worse things, but these rank pretty high up there.

i think most houses have sported the ole boob light at some point - am i right? it always amazes me how much changing a light fixture can truly impact a room. light fixtures have a pretty huge range in pricing - you can break the bank or DIY light fixtures these days.
i wanna show you how to coordinate your light fixtures without matching them.
here is that builder spec lighting i was referring to - its typical in every home when it is built, unless it is custom of course. insert the boob light.
Builder spec. poor lighting selection. Should've selected recessed can lighting. Hit your head on ceiling fixtures.
BLECK! builder spec lighting typically matches throughout the house and is on the cheap end. changing out lighting like this can be done on a fairly low budget and make a HUGE impact if done right. There are lots of factors that come into play when selecting lighting. i will go over a few..
  1. measure - height and width. your light should not be too small or too large for the space. if you are walking under the light it is best to choose a flush or semi-flush mount.
  2. ask yourself, is this ambient lighting or task lighting - will the fixture you chose create enough light to complete the task if task lighting?
  3. style, shape, finish, etc.
to get a custom look you want to coordinate your light fixtures and not match them. here is a good example of that.
kitchen possible?

i put together some lights that coordinate but are not too matchy.

the unlikely olive.

as i have said many times, custom jobs are my favorite ones, and when danielle reed contacted me about her website/etsy/business venture, that is exactly what i got.  the name for the business; the unlikely olive.  i was so anxious as i was reading through the email and when i read the name i was ecstatic.  i think it is the cutest name, but what came next in the email came as a surprise for me.    "I like clean lines, and would like something in basic colors..... I love "earthy" things....I'm open to new ideas!"  I was really thankful for the  "I love "earthy" things....I'm open to new ideas!" portion of the sentence because earthy is exactly what came to mind and thankfully she was open to new ideas because i was just not feeling basic colors or clean lines.  i was thinking, earth tones, the colors of olives, etc.  i went with my gut and this is what came about.

The season of giving.

We had a pitch-in breakfast this morning at work, it was so nice to stop and take a breath during the hectic work day and at this hectic time of year and talk with the people you surround yourself with day in and day out.  We were discussing what Christmas is all about.  It is definitely a time of giving, but that does not mean it has to be "stuff".  One person mentioned that their family gets together for food and games, and then donates money to a charity rather than buying eachother "stuff".  Coming from divorced parents, I have multiple Christmas parties to attend which means multiple Christmas gifts.  This year I had 20 people on my Christmas list....CHA-CHING, do not get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas, but I also wish it was not so much about giving and receiving, and rather about spending time with loved ones!
What do your families do to help cut costs?

It is Wren's first Christmas this year, so for those far away that we do not see often, this was the card we sent:)
The card was inside a recycled grocery bag envelope.  I lined the envelopes with black and white flocked damask paper.  They turned out beautifully!
