Powder your nose

We have a cute little Powder Bath off of our Kitchen under our stairs. It definitely gets the most use in the house and was one of the first rooms that got attention. It was also one of the only rooms that had a faucet left in it, and I actually liked it okay -score.
Here it is before I started working on it, and like all the other cabinets it did not have any hardware.

Here is a wider shot from the kitchen looking in where you can see the lovely faux painted yellow walls.

and lets not forget the decorative wallpaper cutouts that were randomly placed all over this bathroom.

First I took down the mirror over the vanity and then I removed all of the wallpaper cutouts with boiling hot water in a spray bottle and a utility knife.
Then I caulked all of the trim. Next I painted the vanity. I love mint and I had lots leftover from the front door, so I used that.

Then I added some adorable chartreuse pulls that I found at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and a tan Leopard Print Rug.

Here is the view from the Kitchen.

Then I painted the walls with Porter-Atrium White and added in a decorative mirror.

The wall behind the toilet needed something too, so I found this adorable gold basket at a local antique store - perfect toilet paper holder!

if you follow me on facebook you would know that I got a silhouette cameo for Christmas! Ive been wanting to do more to this room and I think I have it figured out!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
stay tuned;)

Master Bedroom

Our Master Bedroom still has a long way to go. If you remember, this is what it looked like when we moved in.

To be honest it doesn't look much different from this now. The wall of blue wallpaper has been stripped and painted. Almost half of all the floral wallpaper is removed but there is still a lot to go and our poor drywall has taken a beating with the removal process. So needless to say, there is still a lot of work to be done and frankly I am having trouble getting motivated.
on the positive side, fabric.com was offering free shipping on orders of $50 or more, so when I ordered the fabric for our pallet ottoman, I added on some pillow fabric for our Master Bedroom and it is finally here!

Then for Christmas my awesome Mom got us our Duvet Cover from Urban!

so I updated our mood board from the original post on the Master Bedroom.

modern vs. classic

my husband and i are very into architecture.  we love things that are different, and most of all efficient.  however, i will never lose my love for things that are beautiful.  we have a dream of one day building a home, and i know the most important thing to him will be the efficiency of the home (how it is built, building materials, energy, etc.).  while this is very important to me, it will also be equally important for me to love that home and be happy in it forever.

if i ever have down time, you can almost always find me with a note pad drawing a floor plan or the exterior of a house.  i have a lot of practice with drawing houses and making them beautiful, but i always have trouble creating something that truly reflects both of our personalities.  either he loves it, or i love it, never do we both love it.  so i am on the hunt for inspiration to create something we will both love.  a drawing that we can tweak for 5, 10 or hell who knows how many years.  if for some reason we never get around to building it, it will at least be fun during the process.

so, is it possible?  can these two types of designs be married?

the unlikely olive.

as i have said many times, custom jobs are my favorite ones, and when danielle reed contacted me about her website/etsy/business venture, that is exactly what i got.  the name for the business; the unlikely olive.  i was so anxious as i was reading through the email and when i read the name i was ecstatic.  i think it is the cutest name, but what came next in the email came as a surprise for me.    "I like clean lines, and would like something in basic colors..... I love "earthy" things....I'm open to new ideas!"  I was really thankful for the  "I love "earthy" things....I'm open to new ideas!" portion of the sentence because earthy is exactly what came to mind and thankfully she was open to new ideas because i was just not feeling basic colors or clean lines.  i was thinking, earth tones, the colors of olives, etc.  i went with my gut and this is what came about.

I've fallen

Have you ever walked into a store and had to have everything?!?!?!?!?!  Well, now you have, well at least I have, well not really.  I didn't "walk" in but I "clicked" in and I am dying here!  Furbish Studio of Raleigh, NC just had their grand opening, and thanks to Honey & Fitz attending the opening, I am able to share it with you.
Jaime Meares has totally outdone herself, this store is AMAZING.  It reminds of Kelly Wearstler mixed with Betsey Johnson, two of my faves.  GAH I have to have something from this store!

How brilliant is this pink door on this plain old building, marvelous!
and we enter......

I have been wanting a grey sofa forever and this just solidify's that!

A closer look at the SAWEET wing back and amazing wallpaper!

and for my favorite peice, drumroll please.............
oh that settee, oh that fabric, oh those pillows, in love:)
