Art Nouveau in the Bedroom

Daily, I spend my time searching the internet for the loveliest interior design ideas and images to share with blog readers like you. Today, I bring you Art Nouveau style bedrooms. Appearing in the early 1880s, the Art Nouveau style enjoyed a brief, yet stunning, presence in art, decorative arts, applied arts and architecture. The movement could be seen throughout Europe and North America. Public buildings as well as private homes boasted this forward-thinking style spurred some say by the Industrial Revolution. I’ve included some of my favorite Art Nouveau bedrooms below to give you an idea of some of the elements of the style. Hope you enjoy!

This elegant bedroom exudes the beauty and charm of the Art Nouveau style. The curves in the screen, wall treatment and vanity are a common element of the movement.

A bedroom suite is true to the style with its lovely curving lines. The wall sconces on either side of the bed and the floor lamp were popular during this period.

A Bohemian room gets its own touch of Art Nouveau in the opening to the bed chamber. The lines mimic that of a butterfly.

Whoopi Goldberg's bedroom in New Jersey features an Art Nouveau bed with lavish detailing including sculptures on its foot board.

The Art Nouveau architectural elements of this bedroom are evident in the stained glass windows and ceiling decoration. The two lighting fixtures go well with the glamorous style.

This bathroom in a master bedroom suite boasts circles, curves and swooping details so much a part of the Art Nouveau style.

An Art Nouveau screen poses as a headboard in this lovely bedroom. Other glamorous elements are seen in the silver table lamps and sculptures at each bedside.
