dora fiesta party//wren is 2!

this past weekend we celebrated our daughters 2nd birthday, dora style.  her birthday is not until the 26th but with the baby being due the 27th we thought it would be best to celebrate a little early to avoid any "surprises" at the party.
we went with something smaller this year and decided to have it at home.  she wanted a dora theme and i wanted a low budget.  i think the easiest place to cut money with a party is all of the extras, decorating, invitations etc.  i went store bought for the invitations and the designer in me was crying inside, so to satisfy myself, I did a custom save the date and emailed it out prior to sending invites.  as for the decor, we used things that we already had and only bought a few things that totaled under $10.00.
the main cost of the party went towards the food and the cake.  we had a Mexican spread that everyone seemed to be satisfied with, i know i was, and boy oh boy that cake.  i really out did myself this year.  it was only my second time working with fondant and i could not be more happy with the outcome, and the birthday girl LOVED it.
i will post some of the details a bit later:)
