We go together like

dip da-dip da-dip doo-wap da woo-bee doo

well i finally did it, i took the plunge into dipped furniture that is all the rage right now. 

we have been in our house for two months now and i have done my fair share of projects but for some reason i am just now getting around to start sharing. yesterday i did a revamp to our work space area in the living room library (yes my husband calls it our library)!

TA-DA!

Before, err kinda:

I gotta get better at this before picture thing. At this point I had already done the following

• changed out desk hardware
• taped off two of the legs
• removed chair seat
• cut in on those horrid blue walls

After:

I am trying to be real here and not cast some make believe home, so please ignore my lovely wires that are strewn about below the desk.

Alright, so here is what I did:

• Artwork: This was in the Dining Room of our previous house. The size and scale of the painting and frame are rightbut I am not sure if those are the colors I want in this space - there may be plans down the road to paint over that painting and/or to paint the frame. 
• Chair:  I gave it a new coat of white spray paint and recovered the seat with some scrap Kravet fabric I had lying around.
• Desk: I taped off the legs and painted the bottom portion with gold leaf to give it the dipped leg look. I also changed out the hardware.
• Wall: This room was a horrid country blue before with creamy yellow ceilings. Painting the ceilings with a fresh coat of white paint made a huge difference. Now I am tackling the walls one at a time with Porter Atrium White and it really makes the rrom more clean and fresh feeling!

I can't wait to keep working on this space and share photos of the progress!

Look at this beauty.....my client found at a local antique store for just $18.00.

This chair found its new home and it is a desk chair in their Kitchen!

What color should it be???........hmmmm...........say Turquoise!

We are trying to keep the antique look of the chair, and to do so we are using 3 different colors of paint, so primer is a must!

Spray it on, let it dry.

Then, Chocolate Brown for depth and dark crevices.

Brush it on, let it dry.

Then our first, lighter shade of turquoise.

Brush it on, but not too thick, we want our brown to show through, let it dry.

Then our last coat, which is a darker shade of turquoise.

Brush it on, again not too thick, let it dry.

Then lightly sand edges to show the lighter shade of turquoise and the chocolate brown to create an antique look!

Next was reupholstering this UGLY seat!

Amy of Peltier Interiors was nice enough to share her DIY winter project of her Powder Bath with me, and now all of you!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....what to do with this Powder Bath??  Well I know what will give character to any space!!!!  Yup, you got it STRIPES!

Taping off the large horizontal stripes and painting them.

-Before taping your stripes make sure you make measurements on the wall so that the stripes are even.  Draw your stripe all the way around the room with a level and measure every few feet to make sure you are still on track.

Make sure to remove your toilet paper holder or anything else you may have hanging on the wall!

Do not forget to take off your outlet covers.

I love Lamp.....

I have been itching and itching to go antique shopping, so finally on this rainy Saturday, I have my chance! I don't know about you other antique shoppers/flea market hunters out there, but I know that this one has to have a list before heading out. There are just too many beautiful treasures out there that I have the potential of coming home with that I do NOT need! So, first step, the mental list. On my list Saturday were, Sconces for our bedroom, Chair&Ottoman for Living Room, Lamp for Living Room, Chandelier and a magazine rack/holder. I managed to come home with 2 of the 5 things I needed and nothing else:)

I found this lamp sitting ever so pretty on top of a dresser in a HUGE room, had I not prepared my mental list, this lamp would have been overlooked. I loved it but decided I did not want to carry it throughout the entire 2 story humongous warehouse of antiques and left it for a second look. After browsing and coming across the perfect magazine rack, I came back to the lamp, which was still as beautiful as the first time and with the price tag of $35 was calling my name! After looking it over I noticed that the drum shade was lined with metallic SILVER, AHHHH. Me and metallics are best friends in case you have not caught on. This lamp just went from calling my name to having my name printed all over it! Double checked it at the counter to make sure it was functioning and home I went!

I LOVE my grandparents!!!!

So my Granparents, being the wonderful people that they are have totally let me raid their home. Well, not really but REALLY!

A little over a year ago they invited my husband and I over for dinner. They told us that they had something to discuss with us. Next thing I know, Grandma has a brochure for a new subdivision in Fishers, Indiana. She opens up the brochure, shows us a beautiful home and floorplan and proceeds to tell us that they are building a new home and moving in May. WOW! This was a huge shock to us. They had a beautiful home in Indianapolis and I never thought they would move. They had been talking for years about updating the house they lived in and I was waiting for that news....but no! They were so excited like kids in a candy store to build a home together and make it everything they had ever wanted.

Well a little background on my husband and I.......I am an Interior Designer at Z&R Design in Fishers, Indiana and I like to call myself an amateur artist, while my husband Mike owns his own Home Remodeling company, Clean Feet.

They were basically getting ready to share with us our plans for the next year of our lives! We are so grateful to have such wonderful grandparents that were willing to put the fate of their new home in our hands! We have had so much fun with the house and now it is DONE! I am so excited to share these photos, this home makes me smile every time I am there, and not just because I get to see my grandparents :)

GEICO's lasting impression

There is a Geico commercial out there, I think it is the one about a buck....the lizard needs money for the vending machine, well anyway in the background of the office there is a splatter painting. One of my best friends saw that painting and HAD to have it. Well I decided that I was going to paint it for him and dug a little deeper to find out more about the painting, only to discover that it was a Jackson Pollack. If I was not intimidated already, I was extremely intimidated at this point! After finding the video of the commercial on You Tube, finding the perfect moment where there was an awesome view of the painting, I freezed the screen and printed it off. Went home that evening, got to work and WALLA!


I LOVE IT!...and so did he:)
