Headboards.

The bedroom is so many things to so many people.  To me a bedroom is a place to relax, observe, and prepare. 

-Relax and unwind from the day in a peaceful atmosphere and cozy bed while lying in my husbands arms, or sometimes cuddled to little Wren. 

-Observe the tasks at hand for the day ahead and the things completed that day.  I also love to observe the space and think of all the things I love about it and all of the things I can change about it. 

-Prepare for the day ahead of me by getting ready physically and mentally. 

My husband and I agree on one thing for sure......when it comes to a bedroom, it is not a place for television!  One thing however, we can not agree on is a headboard.  In brainstorming about headboards on Pinterest, I found oodles of ideas and inspiration.  It is CRAZY how many things make a BAD$&* headboard (Excuse my french).  But seriously.......

Small Spaces.

In the last two weeks as we've put blood sweat and tears into our new house, I realize it's going to take a lot of organization to keep it looking good.  Our place is tinier than our already tiny house in Indianapolis.  It also doesn't have the convenience that our Indy home had, fenced in yard, laundry room, powder bath.....  So a little elbow grease has brought this house a long way!  I didn't even bother with before pictures because the house was so BAD, sooo bad!  We replaced all of the flooring and painted everything top to bottom. 

This has got me looking at other spaces that are making the most of what they have.  Currently, these small spaces have my interest!

We have a very small vanity in our bathroom and no linen closet, so this is just what we need to solve our storage problem!

 The added shelving in these kitchens is just what we need to solve our NO COUNTER SPACE problem!

 We also have one room that functions as both a Dining Room and a Living Room.  I love how the two of these rooms flow well as one space.  All of the white in the spaces helps not to overpower it, and the pops of color and art on the walls really add some creativity and life to the small space!

Meet Amy Lau

As I was thumbing through my icon magazine today (a magazine tailored for Interior Designers who are members of ASID) I came across the designer Amy Lau.  I dug a little further only to discover her unique design style, which some may consider "over-the-top", but given her history I think Amy has a Miami flair mixed with Mid-century Modernism.  It is actually quite catching and definitely a peice of art!

This console is so awesome and she has such a unique eye for lighting.

Hello amazing tables and wooden sculpture!

How did she think of this?  hmmm Let's recess a wine cabinet and then put the TO DIE FOR hand-carved sculptural doors on it!  Oh and we will line the doors with wallpaper, BRILLIANT!

This staircase alone would have been magnificent but these walls, OH these walls.

This design is wonderful but the mirror(bottom left) and chairs(bottom right) are simply amazing.

 

Turquoise.

Recently interior designers around the world gathered at Market in High Point, North Carolina where they visited showrooms of all different types of manufacturers, from furniture to lighting to accessories and everything in between.  This year all signs pointed to turquoise.  Apparently the color of the season or maybe the year!  I am a huge fan of blue so this made me happy:)  I have found some turquoise inspiration to get this color into your lives and homes!

Everything about this room is totally perfect to me! The elegant curves of the bench and cocktail table are a perfect balance with the rigid black and white stripes on the sofa.  The pink chairs add the perfect "pop" of color.

Like pink, orange is a great color to pair with turquoise.  This bedroom has amazing turquoise paneled walls and the orange tray on the white bed is a great touch.

This turquoise chandelier is the epitomy of a focal point in this mostly all white bedroom.

I love the bohemian flare to this room.  The orange sofa with turquoise accents is amazing with the neutral tones that make up the "base" of this room.  Anybody notice how AMAZING this ceiling is?!?!?!

I WANT THIS OFFICE!  The black and white photo collage on the back wall was the perfect thing to do with a focal point wall that has a funky shape and all of the white furniture really grounds this mostly blue room and makes it modern yet very chic.  White paneled wall, I love you.
